I never thought before that I would have to leave my homeland
Far away from this calm, flowing river, is my village. Has my house been burnt down? ... I am not sure. But I am certain that the soldiers have been there. When villagers hear that the soldiers are coming, they must run away as the soldiers will hunt them down and hurt them. Innocent villagers are often arrested, raped, and killed at the hands of government soldiers. After we crossed the river and arrived on this side, we knew we were safe, even though this is not our country. I feel sad since I have left my village. Now my home, traditions and community are all far away. By MMT
